Is GTA VI on Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One or PC?
GTA VI is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Every dated official platform statement, and where Rockstar's recent games launched and went later.
Last checked: Oct 11 2026.
No, not as announced. Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else. Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced it for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.
"Not announced" is a thin answer on its own, so this page shows the evidence behind it. Take-Two lists the platforms of every upcoming game in one table, and in that same table it names Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One and PC for other titles. GTA VI's row never has them. Then we set out, from Take-Two's filings, where Rockstar's last big games launched and where they went afterward. That history is the only honest guide to the question people are really asking: "will it come to my machine later?" It cannot answer it, but it shows how long such moves have taken.
PC has its own page with the full console-to-PC history: the GTA VI PC release tracker.

What is counted, and how
"Announced" means named by Rockstar (Newswire, rockstargames.com, Rockstar Support) or by Take-Two in an SEC filing. Store pages count as confirmation of the platform they belong to.
For the history table we used only Take-Two's own earnings releases and 10-K, opened on sec.gov. We list the major Rockstar releases of the last 13 years whose platforms Take-Two spelled out. We left out mobile versions, and we did not add anything Take-Two did not state. Gaps in days are our arithmetic.
What we left out: any platform claim from a hardware maker, a retailer listing or an anonymous post.

Nothing from Rockstar or Take-Two mentions Switch 2, PS4 or Xbox One in connection with GTA VI.
The lineup table: same filing, other platforms
The clearest evidence is Take-Two's Aug 7 2026 earnings release. Its tables list platforms game by game. Here are four rows from it.
| Title in the Aug 7 2026 release | PS4 | PS5 | Xbox One | Xbox Series X|S | Switch 2 | PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto VI (Nov 19 2026) | - | Yes | - | Yes | - | - |
| GTA Online Kortz Center Heist update (Jul 14 2026) | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | - | Yes |
| NBA 2K27 (Sep 4 2026) | - | Yes | - | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Judas (date TBA) | - | Yes | - | Yes | - | Yes |
So Take-Two does name Switch 2 and PC in its lineup when a game is coming to them. It names PS4 and Xbox One for Rockstar's own GTA Online updates, as recently as July 2026. In the same document, GTA VI's row lists two platforms. Its earlier release of Nov 6 2025 also listed Borderlands 4 for Switch 2. The company is not shy about these machines. It simply has not put them next to GTA VI.
Where Rockstar's recent games launched, and where they went later
| Game | Launch platforms and date | Later platforms and dates | Days from launch to the later move | Filing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GTA V | PS3, Xbox 360, Sep 17 2013 | PS4 and Xbox One, Nov 18 2014 | 427 | Oct 29 2013 release; FY2015 10-K |
| PC, Apr 14 2015 | 574 | FY2015 10-K | ||
| PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Mar 15 2022 | 3,101 | Feb 7 2022 and May 16 2022 releases | ||
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | PS4, Xbox One, Oct 26 2018 | PC, Nov 5 2019 | 375 | Nov 7 2018 release; Feb 6 2020 release |
| Stadia, Nov 19 2019, as a launch title | 389 | Feb 6 2020 release | ||
| GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition | PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC, Nov 11 2021 (digital) | - | - | Nov 3 2021 release |
| Red Dead Redemption, with Undead Nightmare | First released in 2010 | PS4 and Switch, Aug 17 2023 | not counted here | Nov 8 2023 release |
| GTA VI | PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nov 19 2026 | None announced | - | Aug 7 2026 release |
The arithmetic for the day counts, counting the launch day as day 0:
- 105 days remain in 2013 after Sep 17.
- To Nov 18 2014 (day 322 of 2014): 105 + 322 = 427.
- To Apr 14 2015 (day 104 of 2015): 105 + 365 + 104 = 574.
- To Mar 15 2022 (day 74 of 2022): 105 + 2,922 for 2014 to 2021 (8 x 365, plus 2 leap days) + 74 = 3,101.
- Oct 26 2018 to Nov 5 2019: 5 days left in Oct 2018, plus 61 for Nov and Dec, plus 309 into 2019 = 375. To Nov 19 2019, add 14 = 389.
What the history shows:
- GTA V and RDR2 both launched on consoles only, then moved. GTA V went to the next console generation 427 days after launch, PC after 574 days, and a third console generation more than eight years in. Take-Two itself called the PS5 version "an unprecedented third console generation" for GTA V.
- The later versions were in Take-Two's filings before they shipped. The Feb 3 2015 release said GTA V was "planned for launch on PC" (then set for Mar 24 2015; it came out Apr 14). The Feb 7 2022 release gave the Mar 15 date for PS5 and Series X|S. In both cases the new platform was in Take-Two's filings first. That is why "not announced" is the right answer today.
- Rockstar has published on Nintendo hardware. The GTA Trilogy remaster launched on Switch in 2021, and the original Red Dead Redemption came to Switch in 2023. Those were older games. We found no Switch version of GTA V or RDR2 in the Take-Two filings we read.
- The older consoles still get Rockstar updates, just not this game. RDR2 launched only on the consoles that were current in 2018, and GTA VI follows the same rule for 2026. Meanwhile Take-Two lists GTA Online updates for PS4 and Xbox One in Dec 2025 and Jul 2026. Rockstar has kept supporting the older machines with its existing online game while its new game skips them.
None of this predicts what Rockstar will do with GTA VI. Past patterns are not plans.
RUMOR table (not confirmed)
| Claim | Status, Oct 11 2026 | Source of the claim |
|---|---|---|
| RUMOR: GTA VI is coming to Switch 2 | UNCONFIRMED. Usually traced to Zelnick saying in Feb 2025 that Take-Two "fully expects" to support Switch 2. VGC's report does not show him naming GTA VI | VGC, Feb 7 2025 |
| RUMOR: A PC release date (2027, 2028, "early 2026") | UNCONFIRMED. No PC version is announced | VGC (Corsair claim); details on the PC tracker |
| RUMOR: Xbox holds exclusive cloud-streaming rights | Denied by an Xbox executive on X, per secondary reports | Cybernews |
| RUMOR: A PS4 or Xbox One version | UNCONFIRMED. No source we found makes this claim with any evidence | none |
What would confirm any of them: a Rockstar Newswire post, a new platform in GTA VI's row of a Take-Two lineup table, or Rockstar Support's platforms page adding it.
Trivia
- Rockstar's support page says the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold through "the PlayStation and Microsoft storefronts." No third store is named anywhere in GTA VI's official copy.
- GTA V's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version launched digitally on Mar 15 2022, the same day GTA Online became a standalone game on those consoles, per Take-Two's May 16 2022 release.
- For what GTA VI costs on each platform's store, see GTA VI price; for what each edition contains, see editions and platforms.
