Privacy policy
What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.
GTA VI Forum (gtaviforum.com) is published by Parlae Media. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean Parlae Media. The site is free to read and free to join. We take no payments, so we never hold card or bank details.
What we collect
- Your account, if you register. Your email address and the username you choose. The email address is held by our sign-in provider so you can log in; it is never shown on the site. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and confirms it is yours. We also record when you accepted the terms, your post count and your member role.
- What you post. Threads, replies and the time you posted them. Your username and your posts are public once a moderator approves them. We also keep the moderation record for each post: whether it was approved, held or removed, and why.
- Reports. If you report a post, we store which post, the reason you picked, any note you add and your account, so moderators can act on it. Reporters are not shown to the member reported.
- Contact messages. If you use the contact form or email us, we keep your name, email address, subject and message so we can answer you.
- Poll votes. A one-way salted hash, no raw IP stored, used to count one vote per person and to limit abuse.
- Server logs. Like every website, each request to the site is handled by servers that see your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. Our hosting and network providers keep these logs to run the service and stop abuse. We also keep counts of blocked automated traffic by country, not by person.
- Ad delivery checks. When an ad unit loads, we record the page, whether the device was a phone or a desktop, and whether the ad filled. This record has no name, email, account or IP address in it.
- Your cookie choice. A first-party cookie named
site_consentthat remembers whether you allowed advertising cookies, and when you chose. It holds nothing else and we do not share it.
We run no analytics or tracking products of our own beyond what is listed here. Advertising cookies set by Google and its partners are covered in the Advertising section below.
Why we collect it
Your email address and username exist so you can have an account, log in and post. Posts are the forum. Reports and moderation records let us enforce the community guidelines and answer appeals. Contact messages let us reply to you. Logs keep the site running and help us block spam, attacks and automated abuse. The ad delivery checks tell us whether ads are working, because ads pay for the site.
We do not send marketing email. We email you only about your account, or to answer a message you sent us.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on GTA VI Forum. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site through Google. They may use cookies, web beacons and similar technology to show and measure ads, and they may see your IP address and browser details when an ad loads.
We pass your choice to Google through Google Consent Mode. Before any Google ad code runs on a page, the page tells Google that advertising storage and ad personalisation are denied. They switch on only where the rules below allow it. When they are off, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which do not use your past browsing to pick the ad.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youradchoices.com. For how Google uses information from this site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Cookies and your consent
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and anywhere we cannot tell which country you are in, every visitor starts with advertising cookies and ad personalisation off. Google's consent message, from a consent platform certified by Google, asks for your choice. Nothing optional is switched on until you agree there.
Everywhere else, including the United States, advertising cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and advertising cookies stay off, unless you later make a different choice yourself on that browser.
Two links at the foot of every page control this:
- Cookie settings opens Google's consent message in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and our own panel everywhere else, where you can allow or refuse advertising cookies.
- Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information switches advertising cookies and ad personalisation off for that browser in one tap.
Both work per browser. Your choice in our panel is saved in the site_consent cookie for about six months, after which we may ask again.
What the site stores in your browser:
- Strictly necessary (always on): your sign-in session if you log in, and the
site_consentcookie. - Advertising (your choice): cookies Google AdSense and its partners use to show, personalise and measure ads.
- Spam checks: Cloudflare Turnstile, when it runs on the contact form or sign-up, reads signals from your browser to tell people from bots.
- Embedded videos: members can embed YouTube videos. They load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube receives your IP address when the player loads and may store data in your browser when you press play.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent or trade your email address, your account details or your messages, and we do not give them to data brokers or ad networks. The advertising cookies above are set by Google and its partners in your browser. Some US state laws, including California's, can treat that as "sharing" for advertising. You can opt out of it with the Do Not Sell or Share link or a Global Privacy Control signal, as described above.
Service providers
These companies process data for us to run the site. Each one gets only what its job needs.
- Lovable - hosts the site and its application code, and keeps request logs and basic traffic statistics for it.
- Supabase - our database and sign-in system, provided through Lovable Cloud. Your account, posts, reports and contact messages are stored here.
- Cloudflare - the network in front of the site. It handles every request and sees your IP address and approximate country, which we use to decide which consent rules apply. It also runs Turnstile, the spam check.
- Google - AdSense ads and Google's consent message (subject to your choices above), Sign in with Google if you use it, and YouTube for embedded videos.
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. When we receive data from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer for international transfers.
How long we keep it
- Account details: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Posts: for as long as the forum runs, unless you ask us to remove them or a moderator removes them. Removed posts and moderation records are kept so we can handle appeals and repeat abuse.
- Contact messages: for as long as we need them to deal with your message. Ask and we will delete yours.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting and network providers on their own schedules, then deleted.
- The
site_consentcookie: about six months. Google's advertising cookies: as set by Google.
Your rights: access, correction and deletion
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@parlae.io from the address on your account. If you never made an account, tell us the email address you gave us. There is no charge. We may ask one question to confirm the request is really yours.
We reply within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your email address and profile. Tell us whether you also want your posts removed; if you do not, we take your username off them so other members' replies still make sense. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather you wrote to us first.
Children
You must be at least 13 to register or post. If you are 13 to 17, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to register, and they should read this policy and the terms of use with you. Anyone can read the site without an account.
Children under 13 are not allowed to register, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, or a parent wants a teen's account removed, email support@parlae.io and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Account data and posts are stored with access controls: the public website can only read approved content, and every write goes through checks on our server. No system is perfectly secure. Sign-in links go to your email, so keep that email account secure.
Changes and contact
If we change what we collect or why, we change this page and its date. Questions, requests and complaints about privacy go to Parlae Media at support@parlae.io, or through the contact form.
