GTA VI on PC: Release Tracker and History
No PC version of GTA VI is announced. Every official statement, Rockstar's past console-to-PC gaps from Take-Two filings, and what would confirm one.
Last checked: Oct 11 2026. This page is kept live. If Rockstar or Take-Two names a PC version, it goes at the top of this page the same day, with the link.
There is no PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI. None has been announced. Every Rockstar and Take-Two source names two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Any page that gives you a PC release date is guessing, and any page offering a "PC download" is a scam or worse.
What we can give you instead is the record: what the companies have and have not said, how long Rockstar's earlier games took to reach PC, and what an actual announcement would look like.
At a glance

| Is GTA VI coming to PC? | Not announced | Rockstar Support; Take-Two, Aug 7 2026 |
| Platforms at launch | PS5, Xbox Series X|S | Rockstar Support |
| Launch date | Nov 19 2026 | Rockstar Newswire, Nov 6 2025 |
| PC release date | None. Do not trust any page that gives one | n/a |
| Cloud streaming to PC at launch | Reported as no, by an Xbox executive on Oct 7 2026 | Secondary reports; we have not seen the post |
| Past gaps, console to PC | 7 months to just under 19 months for the five console-first GTA games since GTA III; RDR2 just over 12 months | Take-Two filings |
What is counted, and how
For GTA VI, we use only Rockstar and Take-Two primary sources, plus clearly labeled press reports of direct quotes.
For the history table, every date comes from Take-Two's own SEC filings: 10-K annual reports, 10-Q quarterly reports and earnings releases. Where a filing gives only a month, we give only a month and count the gap in whole months. Where it gives a day, we count days with a calendar calculator, start date excluded, then convert to months.
What we left out of the history table. Games that were never console-first GTA or Red Dead titles (Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire), handheld games, and later remasters. We also leave out the PS4 and Xbox One versions of GTA V, because they are not PC releases.
This table is history, not a prediction. Rockstar's past gaps do not tell you when, or whether, GTA VI will reach PC. The gaps vary from 7 months to over 14 years.

What the companies have said
| Date | Who | What | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dec 4 2023 | Take-Two press release | Announced for "PlayStation 5 ... and Xbox Series X|S". No PC | Primary |
| Feb 2024 to Aug 2026 | Take-Two earnings releases | Every lineup table lists GTA VI for "PS5, Xbox Series X|S" | Primary |
| Aug 18 2026 | Rockstar Support | Platforms page names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | Primary |
| May 2026 | Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two CEO, to Bloomberg | Rockstar has historically gone to console first; he denied that a Sony marketing deal set the PC timing | Press, reported by God is a Geek (Bloomberg original paywalled) |
| Oct 7 2026 | An Xbox executive, on X | The game will not stream exclusively, or to PC, through Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch | Secondary reports only; we have not seen the post |
One detail in Take-Two's tables is worth spelling out. The Aug 7 2026 lineup lists NBA 2K27 for "PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, PC" and Judas for "PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC". The same table lists Grand Theft Auto VI for "PS5, Xbox Series X|S". Take-Two writes "PC" when a game is coming to PC. For GTA VI, it does not.
Rockstar's console-to-PC gaps, from Take-Two's filings
This is the table we built for this page. It covers every console-first mainline GTA since GTA III, plus both Red Dead Redemption games.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap | Filing that gives the dates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GTA III | Oct 2001 (PS2) | May 2002 | 7 months | 10-K FY2002 and FY2003 |
| GTA: Vice City | Oct 2002 in North America (PS2) | May 2003 | 7 months | 10-K FY2003 |
| GTA: San Andreas | Oct 2004 (PS2) | Jun 2005 (with Xbox) | 8 months | 10-K FY2005 |
| GTA IV | Apr 29 2008 (PS3, Xbox 360) | Dec 2 2008 | 217 days (7 months, 3 days) | 10-K FY2008; 10-Q Q1 FY2009 |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 18 2010 (PS3, Xbox 360) | Oct 29 2024 | 5,278 days (14 years, 5 months, 11 days) | 10-Q Jun 2010; Q2 FY25 release |
| GTA V | Sep 17 2013 (PS3, Xbox 360) | Apr 14 2015 | 574 days (18 months, 28 days) | 10-K FY2014; 10-K FY2015 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | Oct 26 2018 (PS4, Xbox One) | Nov 5 2019 | 375 days (12 months, 10 days) | 10-Q Q3 FY2020 |
The arithmetic for the dated rows:
- GTA IV: Apr 29 to Nov 29 2008 is 7 months; Nov 29 to Dec 2 is 3 days. In days: 1 left in April, then 31, 30, 31, 31, 30, 31, 30, and 2 days of December. Total 217.
- GTA V: Sep 17 2013 to Mar 17 2015 is 18 months; Mar 17 to Apr 14 is 28 days. In days, 574.
- Red Dead Redemption 2: Oct 26 2018 to Oct 26 2019 is 12 months (365 days); then 10 more days to Nov 5. Total 375.
- Red Dead Redemption: May 18 2010 to May 18 2024 is 14 years; to Oct 18 2024 is 5 more months; then 11 days to Oct 29. In days, 5,278.
For the month-only rows we count calendar months: October to May is 7, October to June is 8.
What the history does and does not show
It shows one constant. Every game in the table launched on consoles first. None of them arrived on PC the same day. That matches what Zelnick told Bloomberg about Rockstar's history.
It shows the gaps got longer after GTA IV. The three PS2-era games reached PC in 7 or 8 months, and GTA IV in a little over 7. GTA V took 18 months and 28 days, and Red Dead Redemption 2 a little over a year.
It shows that a quick PC version is not guaranteed. Red Dead Redemption reached PC more than 14 years after its console launch.
It does not show a GTA VI date. If you add any of these gaps to Nov 19 2026, you get a number with no source behind it. We will not print one.
What would count as confirmation
| Would confirm a PC version | Would not |
|---|---|
| A Rockstar Newswire post naming PC | A hardware maker's comment (one claimed "early 2026", per VGC) |
| "PC" added to GTA VI's row in a Take-Two lineup table | Posts on 4chan or other anonymous boards |
| Rockstar Support's platforms page adding PC | A headline that mentions a "PC arrival" without a Rockstar source (LevelUp, Sep 24 2026, on modding rules) |
| A PC store page published by Rockstar (Rockstar Store or launcher, or Rockstar's own Steam or Epic listing) | Pages on unrelated websites that give a PC date |
| A "PC download" or "free GTA 6" link. These are not real |
Take-Two's next quarterly release is likely in early November, based on last year's Nov 6 2025 timing. That is a prediction, not an announced date. It is the next document where a PC line could appear. We will read it the day it is filed.
Trivia
- Take-Two named GTA IV's December 2008 PC release as the main reason its PC software sales rose $23.1 million (185.9%) in that quarter (10-Q filed Mar 11 2009).
- San Andreas reached Xbox and PC in the same month, June 2005, eight months after the PS2 version (Take-Two 10-K, fiscal 2005).
- Red Dead Redemption 2 reached Google Stadia on Nov 19 2019, two weeks after PC (Take-Two 10-Q filed Feb 7 2020). Nov 19 is also GTA VI's launch date, seven years later.
