Community guidelines

Argue about GTA as much as you like. These are the things we take down, and why.

These guidelines apply to every thread, reply and username on GTA VI Forum. They are part of the terms of use. When a post breaks them, a moderator removes it or edits out the part that breaks them. Repeat or serious breaks lead to a suspension or a ban.

What we remove, and why

What we removeWhy
Piracy: pirated games, ROMs, ISOs, cracks, or links and directions to them.It is copyright infringement, and it puts the site and its members at legal risk. Talking about the history of emulation or game preservation is fine; pointing people to copies is not.
Leaked builds, footage, screenshots, files or code from any game, and links to them or descriptions of what they show.Leaked material is stolen and its owners have it taken down. If major outlets report that a leak happened, you can discuss that it happened, but not what the leak contains.
GTA Online mod menus, and how to get or use them. They break Rockstar's terms, get accounts banned, and are often a way to spread malware. Single-player PC mods on GTA V and older games are fine to discuss.
Cheats, money drops, modded accounts, "recovery" services or in-game currency for sale, free or paid. These are scams more often than not, and selling them breaks Rockstar's terms. Built-in single-player cheat codes are fine.
Buying, selling or trading accounts, or giving away logins. It breaks the game publishers' terms, and stolen accounts are often how these sales start.
Sexual content, including sexual images, links to porn and sexual descriptions of anyone. This is a general-audience site with members as young as 13. Discussing the games' mature themes in plain terms is fine.
Instructions for buying, making or using illegal drugs.Real-world harm. Talking about how a game portrays drugs is fine.
Hate and harassment: attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age; slurs; threats; and targeting one member again and again.People should be able to argue about games without being abused. Disagree with the post, not the person.
Doxxing: anyone's real name, address, phone number, workplace, photos or other private details, about members, developers or anyone else.It puts people in danger. This includes digging up private details about people who work at Rockstar.
Spam and self-promotion: ads, referral links, affiliate links, repeated posts, and posting only to plug your own channel, server or shop.It buries real discussion. Sharing your own GTA video or creation once, in a thread where it is on topic, is fine.
Unmarked GTA VI story spoilers in the Characters & Story forum, once the game is out. Many members will play at their own pace. Post spoilers only in a thread whose title starts with [SPOILERS], and keep them out of thread titles. Until the game is released there is no story to spoil, so speculation is fine.

We also remove anything illegal, malware and scam links, impersonation of other members or of staff, and posts that are only there to start a fight. Usernames follow the same rules as posts.

How posting works right now

A new member's first three posts are pre-moderated. When you post, your post is held and only you and the moderators can see it. A moderator reads it, and approves it or removes it. Approved posts appear in the thread for everyone. Once you have three approved posts, your posts go up as soon as you send them, unless the filter below flags one. This is how we keep leaks, piracy and spam off the site. At busy times, or if spam gets through, we may hold every member post for a moderator for a while; it works the same way.

An automatic filter also checks every post before a moderator sees it. It looks for words and links tied to the things above, such as piracy and leak links, and flags them. A flagged post stays held; a false match does not count against you.

Links

  • Until you have 10 approved posts, you can only link to YouTube and to Rockstar Games' own sites. Posts with other links are held or have the links removed.
  • After that, link to anything that follows these guidelines.
  • Every link a member posts is marked nofollow, so posting links here does nothing for anyone's search ranking. Do not bother trying.
  • YouTube links can show as an embedded video. Do not post videos that break these guidelines.

Reporting a post

Every post has a Report button for members who are logged in. Pick the reason that fits: spam, piracy or leak, sexual, hate, harassment, off topic, or other. Moderators see every report. When a post gets three open reports from different members, it is hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it. If the moderator finds it breaks no rule, it comes back.

Do not use reports to bury posts you disagree with. Reporting in bad faith breaks these guidelines too. If something is urgent, such as someone posting your personal details, also email support@parlae.io.

Suspensions and bans

For most breaks we remove the post and the member gets a warning. Repeated breaks lead to a suspension for a set time, then a permanent ban. Some things get a permanent ban the first time: posting leaked material or links to it, doxxing, threats, sexual content involving minors, and selling cheats or accounts. Making a new account to get around a ban gets that account banned too.

Appeals

If you think a moderator got it wrong, email support@parlae.io with the subject "Appeal". Include your username, which post or decision you mean, and why you think it should be looked at again. A different member of staff will review it where we can, and we reply by email. Please do not argue a decision in the forum itself.

If you hold the copyright in something posted here, use the DMCA process instead.
