DMCA and copyright

How to ask us to take down material that infringes your copyright, and how to object if yours was removed.

Parlae Media respects copyright and expects members of GTA VI Forum to do the same. We respond to notices of claimed infringement that meet the requirements of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512). Our community guidelines already ban pirated games and leaked material, so much of it never gets past pre-moderation. If something does, tell us.

Where to send a notice

Email Parlae Media at support@parlae.io with the subject line "DMCA". Notices sent to the email address work fastest. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, you may want to talk to a lawyer before sending a notice.

What a notice must contain

Under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), a notice must be in writing and include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of a person authorized to act on their behalf. A typed full name works as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed, or, if one notice covers several works on the site, a representative list of them.
  3. Identification of the material you say is infringing and that you want removed, with enough information for us to find it. The full URL of each post or page is best.
  4. Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the way complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

If a notice is missing one of these, we may write back and ask for it before we act. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a false claim that material is infringing can be liable for damages, including costs and attorney's fees.

What happens next

When we receive a complete notice, we remove or disable access to the material, and tell the member who posted it that we did, with a copy or summary of the notice. We may share the notice, with your personal contact details removed, to explain why the material came down.

Counter-notice

If your post was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you had the right to post it, you can send a counter-notice to support@parlae.io with the subject "DMCA counter-notice". Under 17 U.S.C. 512(g)(3) it must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Parlae Media may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

When we receive a complete counter-notice, we send a copy to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we may restore the material between 10 and 14 business days after we received the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe copyright. As a rule, a member whose posts are the subject of valid notices more than twice loses their account. Posting pirated games or leaked material can lead to a ban the first time, under our community guidelines. A new account made to get around such a ban is closed too.
