What Take-Two Has Told Investors About GTA VI

Every Take-Two filing that framed GTA VI for investors since May 2025: the CEO's words, the guidance figures, and what each one committed to.

Last checked: Oct 11 2026. Every quote below comes from a Take-Two filing we opened on sec.gov, unless it is marked as press.

Rockstar talks to players on the Newswire. Its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, talks to shareholders, and a company is responsible for what it files with the SEC. That makes the filings the most carefully worded record of the game there is.

This page reads them as a set. Our delay timeline already tracks every date Take-Two printed. This page tracks something else: how Take-Two has tied GTA VI to money, and how its wording about the game has changed since the last delay. The short version: since May 2025, Take-Two has told investors one thing over and over. Fiscal 2027 will be a record year, and GTA VI is the reason.

What is counted, and how

We opened every Take-Two earnings release from May 2025 to Aug 2026, the fiscal 2026 10-K and the June quarter 10-Q on sec.gov, and searched each for "Grand Theft Auto VI". Earlier filings, from the Dec 2023 reveal through the Feb 2025 release, are covered row by row on the delay timeline, so we do not repeat them here.

Three kinds of statement appear:

  • CEO quotes. Each earnings release opens with a paragraph attributed to Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two's chairman and CEO.
  • The lineup table. Each release ends with a table of upcoming games, platforms and dates.
  • Business sections of the 10-K and 10-Q. These describe Rockstar and the GTA series.

Things said on earnings calls, in interviews or at the annual meeting are not in the filings. We include three such statements below and mark them PRESS, because we took them from outlets and not from a transcript we read. The Sep 22 2026 8-K that reports the annual meeting contains vote results and a charter amendment, nothing about GTA VI. The most recent filing, an 8-K of Sep 30 2026, reports a new long-term Xbox publisher license agreement with Microsoft. It does not name any game, so we list it only to show we read it.

"Net Bookings" is Take-Two's main sales measure. It counts the value of games and in-game content sold in a period, before accounting rules spread some revenue over later quarters. It is not the same as GAAP revenue.

What the record shows

1. The fiscal year matters more to Take-Two than the date. The May 2 2025 release did not just move the game. It moved it into a different fiscal year, and it said so in the first paragraph. The CEO quotes of May 2025, Nov 2025, Feb 2026 and May 2026 all name fiscal 2027 as the record year. The Nov 6 2025 delay, from May 26 to Nov 19 2026, kept the game inside fiscal 2027, which ends Mar 31 2027. That is why the Nov 2025 release could move the date and keep the same promise of "record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2027."

2. "Plans to" became "will." The fiscal 2026 10-K, filed May 22 2026, says GTA VI "is planned for release" on Nov 19, and in its product section that "Rockstar plans to release" it. The 10-Q filed Aug 7 2026 changes both to "will release." Filings are drafted carefully, and this is the firmest wording Take-Two has used in a legal filing about the date. It is still a forward-looking statement, which the same filings warn may not come true.

3. The guidance figure has not moved. Take-Two set its fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook at $8.0 to $8.2 billion on May 21 2026 and repeated it word for word on Aug 7 2026. It did adjust smaller lines. Its EBITDA outlook went from $1,013 to $1,070 million in May to $993 to $1,053 million in August. The headline number stayed.

4. No GTA VI sales figure exists, and none should be expected before launch. The filings give unit counts for the series and for GTA V, not pre-order numbers for VI.

Same half of FY26, actual$3.34Bour arithmetic

The arithmetic, step by step:

  • FY26 quarters: 1.42 + 1.96 + 1.76 + 1.58 = 6.72, which matches the full-year figure Take-Two reported.
  • Low end of what is left for the second half of FY27: 8.0 - 1.39 - 1.67 = 4.94.
  • High end: 8.2 - 1.39 - 1.62 = 5.19.
  • Second half of FY26: 1.76 + 1.58 = 3.34.
  • FY27 outlook against FY26 actual: 8.0 / 6.72 = 1.19 and 8.2 / 6.72 = 1.22, so growth of about 19 to 22 percent.

What this shows: Take-Two's outlook puts roughly $1.6 to $1.85 billion more in Net Bookings into Oct 2026 to Mar 2027 than it booked in the same months a year earlier. GTA VI launches in that window, on Nov 19. Take-Two does not split its outlook by game, so this is not a GTA VI sales forecast. It is the size of the gap the company expects that half-year to fill.

What is not confirmed

  • The Q2 FY27 report date. As of Oct 11 2026, Take-Two's investor relations page lists no upcoming event. Its last listed events are the Aug 7 call and the Sep 17 annual meeting. For comparison only: a year ago, Take-Two reported Q2 FY26 on Nov 6 2025. Until Take-Two IR posts a date, any date you read for the next report is a guess. Whenever it comes, it will probably be the last earnings release before launch (a prediction, not a fact).
  • A GTA VI sales forecast. Take-Two has never published one. Analyst numbers are not Take-Two's.
  • Online plans. No filing describes a GTA VI online mode. See GTA Online for the mode that does exist.

Trivia

  • The May 2 2025 release ran under a headline about Net Bookings. The delay was the second line.
  • Take-Two's outlook lists as a key assumption "continued growth in the installed base of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S," the two platforms GTA VI is announced for.
  • The 10-K's promise that Rockstar "will share more details this summer" was followed by the Aug 27 2026 Extended Look. See GTA VI trailers.
