GTA VI Trailers: Every Official Video, Dates and Views

All three official GTA VI videos: release dates and times, runtimes, platforms, sourced view counts, and Rockstar's own YouTube links.

Last checked: Oct 11 2026. View counts change by the minute. Ours are the numbers Rockstar's YouTube pages showed when we checked that day.

Rockstar has released three official Grand Theft Auto VI videos: Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and An Extended Look. That is the full list on Rockstar's VI site. There is no Trailer 3. This page gives the exact release time of each, its runtime, where it premiered, every view figure we could trace to a named source, and the official link. We never link re-uploads, and we never link or describe leaked footage.

What is counted, and how

Times. These are YouTube's own publish timestamps for each video on the Rockstar Games channel, converted from Pacific to Eastern time (add three hours). The Extended Look's Netflix time comes from Rockstar's Aug 6 2026 Newswire post. Each YouTube link above is the same video Rockstar embeds or links in its Newswire post, so you can check that it is the original.

Runtimes. These come from YouTube's length field: 90, 167 and 1,608 seconds. VGC gives the Extended Look as 27 minutes, which is the same runtime rounded.

"Release date in force." This is the date Rockstar had announced when each video came out, not a reading of each end card. Trailer 1's Newswire text reads "Coming 2025." Trailer 2 came four days after Rockstar moved the game to May 26 2026 (May 2 to May 6 2025). The Extended Look's YouTube description says "Coming November 19."

Views. There are three kinds of number, and they cannot be added together:

  1. Guinness-verified YouTube views in 24 hours (Trailer 1 only).
  2. Rockstar's own cross-platform claim (Trailer 2). Nobody has audited it.
  3. Netflix "views" (Extended Look). Netflix counts a view as total watch time divided by runtime.

Today's YouTube counter is a fourth kind. It only counts Rockstar's YouTube upload.

Days online, Oct 11 20261,04252345
Average YouTube views per day since release (our arithmetic)about 285,000about 352,000about 689,000

The arithmetic: views divided by days online. For Trailer 1, 297,466,648 divided by 1,042 is about 285,477. For Trailer 2, 184,101,656 divided by 523 is about 352,011. For the Extended Look, 31,014,989 divided by 45 is about 689,222. Those averages include each video's launch spike, so they flatter the newest video. They are not a ranking.

Two cautions:

  • Trailer 2's 475 million is a claim, not a YouTube record. TechRadar reported that on YouTube alone, Trailer 2 did not beat Trailer 1's 24-hour total. We took that from a search summary and did not see it on the page ourselves.
  • The Extended Look's two numbers do not measure the same thing. Its YouTube count (31.0 million) and its Netflix figure (31.1 million) are close by coincidence. Netflix's method means two people who each watch half count as one view.

Guinness also lists Trailer 1 as the most-viewed non-music YouTube video in its first 24 hours. It beat the 59.4 million set by a MrBeast video in Aug 2023.

Trailer 1 (Dec 4 2023)

Rockstar had planned to release Trailer 1 on the morning of Dec 5. It leaked on Monday, Dec 4, and GamesRadar reported that Rockstar posted the full trailer less than an hour after the leak went public, "a day ahead of schedule." The upload went live at 3:07 p.m. Pacific, 6:07 p.m. Eastern. Rockstar's Newswire post still carries the original date, Dec 5 2023. That is why you will see both dates quoted. The video date is Dec 4. The post date is Dec 5.

The Newswire text gives the game's pitch: the state of Leonida, "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond," and "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet." The game was coming in 2025 to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The 2025 window did not hold. See the delay timeline.

Trailer 2 (May 6 2025)

Trailer 2 came out on a Tuesday morning, 519 days after Trailer 1. It was the first video to give the story in Rockstar's words: Jason and Lucia, an easy score gone wrong, and a conspiracy across Leonida. The same day, Rockstar put up character profiles and region pages on its site. Game Informer covered them that morning. We cover those on Lucia and Jason and Leonida. Unlike Trailer 1's, its YouTube description says how it was made: captured in-game on a PS5, "equal parts gameplay and cutscenes."

An Extended Look (Aug 27 2026)

Rockstar announced it on Aug 6 2026, 21 days ahead. It is the only GTA VI video that premiered somewhere other than YouTube. It ran on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, then went to Rockstar's YouTube channel and the VI site at 9 p.m. ET. At 26 minutes 48 seconds it is about 18 times as long as Trailer 1 (1,608 divided by 90 is 17.9). It came 84 days before launch.

How GTA VI's run-up compares with GTA V's

This table uses only videos still on Rockstar's YouTube channel. The GTA V list is the five videos we could find there, not a complete history.

Launch dates used: GTA V, Sep 17 2013. GTA VI, Nov 19 2026.

What the table shows:

  • The reveal reached more people. GTA VI's reveal has about 2.2 times the YouTube views of GTA V's (297.5 million against 135.0 million), even though GTA V's has been up 12 years longer.
  • The cadence is slower. GTA V had a gameplay video 70 days out and a launch trailer 19 days out. GTA VI's longest look so far came 84 days out.
  • No launch trailer yet. As of Oct 11, 39 days before release, GTA VI has nothing like GTA V's late-August "Official Trailer." If the GTA V pattern held, a final trailer would land in the last few weeks. That is a pattern, not an announcement.

Trailer 3: not announced

Rockstar's VI site lists three videos and no Trailer 3. Dates you may see online, such as "Aug 6" (which turned out to be the Extended Look announcement) or "around Nov 12," are speculation. When Rockstar posts one on the Newswire, we will add it here with its link.

Trivia

  • The Extended Look's YouTube description calls it a look at "the next Grand Theft Auto." It does not use "VI" in that sentence.
  • Trailer 1 runs 1:30, six seconds longer than GTA V's 2011 reveal trailer (1:24).
  • Trailer 2's Newswire post told readers to "Wishlist Now." The Extended Look's post said "pre-order now." Pre-orders opened Jun 25 2026, between the two.
