Game Informer's GTA VI cover story: over 170 animal species, and storms that reach Leonida

Game Informer's 14-page cover story on GTA VI focuses on Leonida's wildlife and weather. These are Game Informer's reports, not Rockstar posts.

On Sep 29 2026, Game Informer published its digital issue with a 14-page Grand Theft Auto VI cover story and 12 new screenshots. The magazine calls it its November 2026 issue. Game Informer says subscribers can read the digital version, and it ran two shorter pieces from the story on its free site the same day.

The first says Leonida has more than 170 animal species across land, air and sea. Game Informer names native Florida animals such as flamingos, manatees, pelicans and alligators, plus invasive species including green iguanas, cane toads, feral cats and rhesus macaque monkeys. It says rarer animals sit in three tiers, Rare, Discoverable and Legendary, and that Rockstar is keeping those animals secret.

The second covers weather. Game Informer reports that clouds change through the day, that storms can hit in the distance while the player stays dry, that rain leaves lasting puddles, and that rainbows can follow a shower. It also writes that Leonida, like Florida, gets tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes.

Why it matters. This is the most detailed look yet at how Leonida works as a place, from a magazine that spoke to Rockstar. It is not a Rockstar post, so we report it as Game Informer's account. Neither free article quotes Rockstar directly.

What is still unknown. Game Informer itself says it is not known how often big storms happen or how they affect missions and the story. The Rare, Discoverable and Legendary animals have not been named. Rockstar has not published a species count on its own pages.
