CONFIRMED
GTA VI's Extended Look opened on Netflix, and Netflix says it was No. 1 in 87 of 93 countries
Rockstar's third official video premiered on Netflix Aug 27 before YouTube. Netflix counted 31.1 million views in four days, by its own measure.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, Rockstar's third official video for the game, premiered on Netflix on Thursday, Aug 27 2026 at 3pm ET. It reached YouTube and Rockstar's GTA VI site at 9pm ET the same day. Rockstar announced the plan in a Newswire post on Aug 6.
Rockstar says the video was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5."
Netflix has now put a number on the premiere. By Netflix's count, as reported by Video Games Chronicle, An Extended Look drew 31.1 million views from Aug 27 to Aug 30. That made it No. 1 on Netflix's weekly chart and No. 1 in 87 of 93 countries.
Read that figure carefully. A Netflix "view" is not a person and not a play. Netflix divides total hours watched by the video's runtime. So 31.1 million is a watch-time measure, and it cannot be compared directly with YouTube view counts for Trailer 1 or Trailer 2, or added to them.
Why it matters. Both earlier trailers debuted on YouTube. Putting the first long look at the game on a streaming service, six hours ahead of YouTube, is a new route for a game reveal, and the chart result shows the audience followed it there.
What is still unknown. Netflix's figure does not say how many separate accounts watched. And Rockstar has not announced another video: its GTA VI site lists Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and An Extended Look, with no Trailer 3. GTA VI launches Nov 19 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
