GTA VI is set in Leonida, "the Goodtime State," with Vice City, USA as its big city. Rockstar's Rob Nelson has pointed to Florida and Miami as the inspiration. Here is everything Rockstar has named so far.
The six regions on Rockstar's map page
- Vice City: "Everything in excess." Rockstar names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha-Wocka flea market and VC Port. Store copy adds Southside Vice City.
- Leonida Keys: a tropical island chain, "Gateway to paradise."
- Grassrivers: wetlands of gators and mangroves, "Welcome to the wetlands."
- Port Gellhorn: "Leonida's forgotten coast," cheap motels and empty strip malls, "Live hard."
- Ambrosia: "the heart of Leonida," home of the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, "Keeping Leonida sweet."
- Mount Kalaga: wild country against the state's northern border, "Wild, wild country."
Other places in Rockstar's copy: Gambit Bay, Washington Beach, Watson Bay (Paradise Garage), Stockyard, Lake Leonida, the Vercetti Estate, Shore Drive, and Leonida Penitentiary, where Lucia served time.
Not confirmed: the map size. Rockstar has published no figure. Comparisons like "bigger than Los Santos" come from secondhand preview accounts and belong in the rumor pile.
Two names will ring a bell for Vice City veterans: Washington Beach, and a Vercetti Estate that shares Tommy's surname. Whether either connects to 2002's Vice City, Rockstar hasn't said.
